When are my income tax documents due to your office to have them completed by the deadlines?

If you are a corporate filer, we request that your tax documents be in to our office no later than by February 1 to meet the March 15 deadline date. If your taxes are on a 6-month extension, we request that your tax documents be in to our office no later than by August 1 to meet the September 15 deadline date. Some exclusions apply to the government deadlines, depending on your business type.

If you are a personal filer, we request that your tax documents be in to our office no later than by March 1 to meet the April 15 deadline date. If your taxes are on a 6-month extension, we request that your tax documents be in to our office no later than by September 1 to meet the October 15 deadline date.

What type of documents do I need to provide you with in order for you to prepare my income taxes?

Each year, in January, we send out a Welcome Back Letter to our clients, which lists the documents that we need. Also noted in the Welcome Back Letter are specific tax rulings that may affect your taxes for that year. We also provide tax organizers, at no charge, to those clients who request them.

How can I check the status of my refund?

For federal refunds, go to the IRS website: https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund Have ready your social security number or ITIN, your filing status, and your exact refund amount. For amended returns – https://www.irs.gov/filing/wheres-my-amended-return

For state (VA) refunds, go to the Virginia Tax website: https://www.tax.virginia.gov/wheres-my-refund. Have ready your social security number, the year of the tax return that you filed, and your refund amount.

I would like to set up my payroll tax e-filing accounts. Where do I go to do this?

Federal tax accounts are managed through a system called EFTPS. Go to https://www.eftps.gov/eftps/ to enroll. Need to save time? We can complete the enrollment for you.

State (VA) tax accounts are managed through the VA Tax website. Go to https://www.ireg.tax.virginia.gov/VTOL/Login.seam?mustLogin=true to enroll. Your VA account can be linked to a Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) account as well through this website. Need to save time? We can complete the enrollment and system link for you.

When are my payroll taxes due?

It depends on the payroll tax type that you are paying as well as the frequency the government agency has set your business up as. We can file and pay your payroll taxes online for you, giving you the peace of mind that they are accurate and on time. Please keep in mind that payroll taxes not filed or paid on time do get penalties and interest.

When are my sales taxes due?

It depends on the sales tax type that you are paying. We can file and pay your sales taxes for you, giving you the peace of mind that they are accurate and on time. Helpful information can be found at https://www.tax.virginia.gov/sales-and-use-tax for information regarding sales taxes, such as retail sales tax, and where you can even subscribe for tax filing reminders.
